Ro-ràdh

Fàilte gu Fuaimean na Gàidhlig. 'S e seo tionndadh eadar-lìn dhe na leasain a sgrìobh an t-Oll. Ó Maolalaigh nuair a bha e a' teagasg aig Oilthigh Dhùn Éideann gus fuaimean na Gàidhlig a theagasg dhan luchd-ionnsachaidh. 'S e cànan gu math ioma-fhillte a thaobh fon-eòlais a tha innte agus ged a tha e gu math doirbh, tha feum air an fhuaimneachadh cheart a ionnsachadh – mur eilear airson "Blas na Beurla air a' Ghàidhlig" a chumail.

Gheibhear an dà chuid mìneachadh mar a nithear na fuaimean agus faidhlichean nam fuaimean (ann an cruth MP3) ann cuideachd. Tha fuaimean na Gàidhlig air an roinneadh ann an 13 roinnean a chithear gu h-ìosal. Briog air roinn, leugh am mìneachadh is èist ris na fuaimean.

Introduction

Welcome to The Sounds of Scottish Gaelic. This is an online version built on the lessons written by Prof. Roibeard Ó Maolalaigh, who formerly lectured at Edinburgh University and taught students the sounds of Gaelic. Gaelic is a rather complex language from the point of its phonology and even though it might seem troublesome, there is a point to studying the proper pronunciation – unless one would like to keep the "Blas na Beurla" – your "English accent".

Here you will get both explanations of how to produce these sounds and sound files of them (MP3). The lessons are divided into 13 sections which you will find above. Click on a section, read the instructions and listen to the sound files.
